APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Environment:
    ITCAM for Microsoft Exchange Server Agent 6.3.1.10
      Exchange Server Version 2016.
    
    Problem Description:
      MSExchangePOP3 service is not mandatory for Exchange server
      2016.
      But, this service is considered as mandatory service by the
      agent.
      As per the functionality of Exchange agent, if any of the
      mandatory services is in stopped state, the exchange agent
      reports server status as DOWN.
    
    Detailed Recreation Procedure:-
      1.Install Exchange Agent version 6.3.1.10 in Exchange server
        2016 Environment.
      2.Right click on  Monitoring Agent for Microsoft Exchange
        Server .
      3.The click on Reconfigure.
      4.In Exchange Services Monitoring tab, try to move service
         (For example : Microsoft Exchange POP3)from right to left.
      5.It will displays the error as :  This service is mandatory
         for determining the Exchange Server status, and therefore,
         cannot be removed
      6.Click on continue, the agent will start.
      7.Stop the Microsoft Exchange POP3 service (if started)
         through services console.
         then check the server status attribute on TEPS.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Microsoft Exchange server agent shows server status as
    DOWN ,when MSExchangePOP3 service is not started for
    Exchange Server 2016
    

Problem conclusion

  • Now, using KEX_SKIPSERVICES environment variable, user can skip
    particular services for determining the server status.
    
    The fix for this APAR is contained in the following
    maintenance
    packages:
