How do you transfer ZIP files to/from HFS?

Question & Answer

Question

FAQ: How do you transfer ZIP files to/from HFS?

Cause

Answer

The HFS file must be explicitly coded with SYSOPTS="DATATYPE=BINARY" on either the TO or FROM in the COPY. Without doing this, the ZIP file will be corrupted.

The following is an example of a process that copies a ZIP file from Connect:Direct for Windows to HFS, and then back from HFS to Connect:Direct for Windows:

ZIPCOPY  PROCESS PNODE=ZOS.NODE.NAME -
                SNODE=WINDOWS.NODE.NAME

/* COPY from Windows to HFS */

COPY1     COPY   FROM (SNODE -
                FILE='C:\testfile.zip' -
                SYSOPTS="datatype(binary)" -
                DISP=SHR) -
              TO (PNODE -
                FILE='/u/testfile.zip' -
                SYSOPTS="DATATYPE=BINARY" -
                DISP=NEW)

/* COPY from HFS to Windows */

COPY2     COPY   FROM (PNODE -
                FILE='/u/testfile.zip' -
                SYSOPTS="DATATYPE=BINARY" -
                DISP=SHR) -
              TO (SNODE -
                FILE='C:\TEST\testfile.zip' -
                SYSOPTS="datatype(binary)" -
                DISP=NEW)
