Error description
Problem Description: The Tivoli Monitoring server reaches pipe listen limit after which no new connections can be made. This limitation was found in ITM 6.23 but is known to exist in all versions of ITM. Detailed Recreation Procedure: This limitation is timing and load dependent. Related Files and Output: The signature of this failure can be seen in the RAS1 log. A necessary condition is the message which indicates the limit has been reached: "(51F2B5B6.0003-807:kdebpli.c,176,"KDEBP_Listen") listen 16 ..." Local fix
Problem summary
The Tivoli Monitoring server reaches a Basic Service's "PIPE listen" limit after which no new connections can be made. This limitation was found in Tivoli Monitoring Version 6.23 but is known to exist in all versions of Tivoli Monitoring.
Problem conclusion
The Basic Service's "PIPE limit" is increased to 32 in release IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) 6.23 and 64 in release 6.30. The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance packages: | fix pack | 6.3.0-TIV-ITM-FP0005
