Java 7.1 for Power AIX and Power Linux may see a slight
performance regression compared to Java 7 when running on POWER6
and later processors.

Problem summary


    

  • The performance regression is caused by a suboptimal Java heap
clearing strategy activated by the JIT compiler.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • The JIT compiler has been corrected to activate a more optimal
heap clearing strategy comparable to the one used in Java 7.
.
This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases:
   7 R1 SR2       (7.1.2.0)
