Error description
Error Message: JNI application failure on AIX platforms. . Stack Trace: N/A . Building a JNI application which links with libjvm.a on a Java6 JDK and then later executing the same with a fresh machine having just Java6 JRE is experiencing crash / GPF / unable to load libjvm.a exceptions.
Local fix
manually adding libjvm.a softlink pointing to libjvm.so solves the problem reported.
Problem summary
With IBM Java6 JRE on AIX platform, there is no symbolic link libjvm.a created for jre/lib/ppc/j9vm/libjvm.so and similarly for jre/lib/ppc/classic/libjvm.so. Meanwhile IBM Java5 JRE on AIX platforms has these symbolic links created.
Problem conclusion
This defect will be fixed in: 6.0.0 SR9FP1 . The symbolic link is missing since Java6 GA. Necessary changes introduced to fix this problem. . To obtain the fix: Install build 20101217 or later
