• This APAR has been raised to track an update to the CICS
  Configuration Manager plug-in for the CICS Explorer, version
  2.1.0.8.

  This APAR tracks the release of update 2.1.0.8 of the IBM CICS
  Configuration Manager plug-in for the CICS Explorer.
  
  This update provides the following defects fixes:
  
  15190: Adding group to new list within CM & SM returns an
  unexpected error.
  17484: Multiple errors occur when fetching history in the CM
  plugin.
  18633: CM History doesn't like some special characters.
  18791: Some of the views in the CM perspective open up in the
  wrong place.
  

Problem conclusion

• Version 2.1.0.8 has been released for IBM CICS Configuration
  Manager plug-in for CICS Explorer. This is available via two
  options:
  
  1. Update from within the CICS Explorer using the IBM-hosted
  Update-Site.
  2. Download the update from Fix Central to be installed locally
  into the CICS Explorer.
  
  This update requires the CICS Explorer to be at least at
  1.0.0.7, but preferably 1.0.1 due to some compatibility issues
  with 1.0.0.7. See IZ85369 for instructions on updating the CICS
  Explorer to 1.0.1. See the associated CICS Configuration Manager
  readme file for this update for information on the compatibility
  issues with 1.0.0.7 located here:

  The CICS Explorer should be updated before installing this CICS
  Configuration Manager plug-in update.
  
  Updating using the Update-Site
  
  Important: Please note the location for the IBM hosted
  update-site has moved. Please follow the instructions below to
  add the new update-site location to the CICS Explorer.
  
  To update the CICS Explorer using the Update-Site follow the
  instructions below:
  
  * Start CICS Explorer.
  * Select Help -> Software Updates... from the main menu.
  * Click the Available Software tab and click Manage Sites...
  * If an existing update-site pointing to the old location is
  present remove it by selecting it and click the Remove button.
    The previous URL was:

    /ibmdl/pub/software/htp/cics/updates/cm/
    (concatenate the URL above).
  * Add the new location by clicking the Add... button and enter
  the following URL into the Location text box:
    http://download.boulder.ibm.com
    /ibmdl/pub/software/htp/cics/updates/cm/2.1/latest/
    (concatenate the URL above).
  * Note: This update-site above will look for any update to
  Version 2.1 of the CICS Configuration Manager plug-in, including
  new modification levels. This is the recommended update-site to
  use. To explicitly choose updates for a specific modification
  level you can choose:
    http://download.boulder.ibm.com
    /ibmdl/pub/software/htp/cics/updates/cm/2.1/2.1.0/
    (concatenate the URL above). This will contain all updates for
  2.1.0.x but any new modification levels in the future will not
  be included. Using the 'latest' update-site will ensure all
  updates for Version 2.1 will be available.
  * Once you've added the update-site you want to the Location
  text box click the OK button.
  * Click OK to leave the Available Software Sites dialog and
  return to the Software Updates and Add-ons dialog.
  * Click the Installed Software tab and click Update...
  * An update should be found for the CICS Configuration Manager
  plug-in, verify that the update version is 2.1.0.8_201009211650
  or higher.
  * Click Finish to install the update.
  * The CICS Configuration Manager plug-in is then
  installed/updated, and you'll be asked to restart to apply the
  changes. Click Yes to restart the CICS Explorer with the CICS
  Configuration Manager plug-in now installed and up-to-date.
  * Optionally, verify that the CICS Configuration Manager plug-in
  version has been updated:
    * Select Help -> Software Updates from the main menu, click on
  the Installed Software tab, and note the version of the CICS
  Configuration Manager plug-in; it should be 2.1.0.8 or higher.
  
  Updating using the IBM Fix Central
  To update the CICS Configuration Manager plug-in using the Fix
  Central follow the instructions below:
  
  * Open a browser and go to the Fix Central website:
  http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/
  * Select WebSphere from the Product Group drop-down menu.
  * Select CICS Configuration Manager for z/OS from the Product
  drop-down menu.
  * Select All from the Installed Version drop-down menu.
  * Select All (or your platform) from the Platform drop-down menu
  * Click Continue.
  
  * Select the "APAR or SPR" option and enter IZ85370 into the
  text box next to it.
  * Click Continue.
  * Select the corresponding Fix Pack's checkbox and click
  Continue.
  * Select the desired download mechanism and click Continue.
  * Optionally, click on the readme to view it.
  * Download the Update Site zip.
  
  Once the download has completed:
  
  * Start CICS Explorer.
  * Select Help -> Software Updates... from the main menu.
  * Click the Available Software tab.
  * Click Add Site...
  * Click the Archive... button.
  * Find the update-site zip just downloaded, and click Open.
  * Click OK to add that update-zip as an available update.
  * Click the Installed Software tab and click Update...
  * The update should be found for the Configuration Manager
  plug-in, verify that the update version is 2.1.0.8_201009211650.
  * Click Finish to install the update.
  * Once the update has completed you'll be prompted to restart
  the CICS Explorer for the update to take effect. Click Yes.
  * Optionally, verify that the CICS Configuration Manager plug-in
  version has been updated:
    * Select Help -> Software Updates from the main menu, click on
  the Installed Software tab, and note the version of the CICS
  Configuration Manager plug-in; it should now be 2.1.0.8.
