  Attempt to rename "/tmp/core.9235" to
  "/home/user/core.20100504.080749.9223.0001.dmp" failed with
  error: Invalid cross-device link

Local fix

• The problem occurs when the Linux kernel.core_pattern setting
  (available in Linux 2.5 kernels) is used to redirect system
  dumps. The
  JVM dump agents are unable to rename the system dump file to the
  name and path specified in the -Xdump option, because the system
  dump
  has been written to a different file system. The workaround is
  to adjust the kernel.core_pattern setting and/or the -Xdump
  options so
  that the system dump locations are on the same file system.
  

Problem summary

• The problem occurs when the Linux kernel.core_pattern setting
  (available in Linux 2.5 kernels) is used to redirect system
  dumps. The JVM dump agents are unable to rename the system dump
  file to the name and path specified in the -Xdump option,
  because the system dump has been written to a different file
  system.
  

Problem conclusion

• This defect will be fixed in:
  5.0.0 SR12
  .
  Fix is for the JVM to rename the dump file name as required by
  the -Xdump options, but leave the dump where OS has written it,
  ie not change the dump location. Appropriate JVMDUMP032I and
  JVMDUMP010I messages are issued to explain where the dump is
  located and why.

  Install build 20100521 or later
