Error description

  • Per the customer, the deduplication rule provided with the
    Esync2000 SitForwarder
(from ITM 6.2.0-TIV-ITM-TMV-Tools-IF003.tar) is not working, as
it does not manage deduplication for alerts which are not from
ITM/EIF. The install script is worse, as it replaces the
original rule provided by Netcool and which works.

    Detail of the problem:
     1- event ALERT1 is received
2- resolution for ALERT1 is received so ALERT1 becomes clear
3- event ALERT1 is received again before previous event
is dropped by the delete_clears trigger
4- the new deduplication trigger (from ITM) does not
reset the severity to non clear... so the event ALERT1 is
       dropped.

I renamed the ITM deduplication trigger to itm_deduplication.
I encapsulated the trigger action between 'if ... endif'.
I now I have this error in the Omnibus log:
      07/08/09 09:14:09: Error: E-AUT-003-004: Trigger
      "itm_deduplication": recursive raise detected. Aborting
      execution

Local fix

  • Comment out the insert statements in the imt_deduplication and
    itmerror procedures.

Comments

  • The problem described in this APAR was fixed by APAR IZ58742.
The remaining message in the log can be ignored as it is benign.
Attempts to eliminate the message would introduce undue risk to
currently working function. If this is important, it would need
to be pursued as a longer term item on a product release
boundary and another design defect APAR that specifically
addresses just this issue could be opened.
