Error description

• Running the SSM agent as non-root, traceroute reports
  tracerouteDestCompletionStatus as "completed" (which means
  success) for any address you give it, yet reports no detailed
  results. However traceroute can't work at all as non-root
  because it requires the creation of raw sockets and sometimes
  packet capture. This means that errors are occurring in the
  background yet not being reported in the MIB as they should, or
  even in the ssmagent log file.

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  When run as non-root, traceroute reports a false positive
  "completed" in tracerouteDestCompletionStatus even though it
  can't do a traceroute at all. An error should be reported in
  this case.

  RECOMMENDATION:
  Upgrade to Fix Pack 8 for SSM 4.0
  The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
  packages:

Problem conclusion

• Any internal failure is now mentioned in the ssmagent log and
  tracerouteDestCompletionStatus reports an error instead of
  "completed".
