Troubleshooting
Problem
After setting up the password-less SSH connectivity for the VIOS Premium or CEC Base agent, the communication to the HMC might fail because the keys are not set up in the correct home directory.
Symptom
The ITM VIOS Premium and CEC Base agents connect to the HMC using an SSH connection in order to collect system configuration information. The documented procedure for setting up the password-less authentication uses the "cfgsvc -key" command to generate and update the /.ssh directory with the key. The command currently assumes the VIOS root user has "/" configured as it's home directory.
After setting up the password-less SSH connectivity for the VIOS Premium or CEC Base agent one of the following occurs:
a. The HMC can no longer be the HMC authenticated causing the following message to be displayed:
$ The authenticity of host '<hostname> (<IPaddress>)' can't be established.
RSA key fingerprint is 0d:9f:37:e3:2e:05:f3:a0:91:c5:47:7f:06:f7:22:4f.
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?
b. SSH password-less connectivity is lost between the VIOS and the HMC causing the following messages:
<HMC user id>@<IPAddress>'s password:
<HMC user id>@<IPAddress>'s password:
<HMC user id>@<IPAddress>'s password:
