IZ23842: UNABLE TO ADD LONG DESCRIPTION TO MORE SEARCH FIELDS DIALOG

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• PROBLEM:
  
  Problems adding any of the following Long Description attributes
  to More
  Search Fields dialogue
  windows within either the SR, INCIDENT (PROBLEM or CHANGE)
  applications.The fields appear
  to display correctly, however when attempting to use them by
  specifying
  a partial string value and
  then click on the Find button -  I get an error message:
  
                           'Database error number 170 has
  occurred.
                          [LWTMAXI01]Line 1: Incorrect syntax near
  ')'
  
  I have been able to add similar columns to the WOTRACK
  application and
  it worked fine
  This problem appears to be with TICKET view related stuff.
  Also,
  accoring to the client the
  WORKORDER view WOACTIVITY related columns have also the same
  problem
  
  
  STEPS TAKEN:
  
  Recreate the above problem using the following steps;
  
  1) Launch Application Designer in MXES
  2) Bring up an application, in this case, we choose INCIDENT
  3) Click on the icon that says 'Edit Dialogs' on the toolbar
  4) On the pop-up, select 'searchmore' from the Control ID field,
  with
  the label of 'More Search Fields'
  5) The 'More Search Fields' dialog box should populate
  6) Click on the icon that says 'Control Palette'
  7) Add a new Textbox to the 'More Search Fields' dialog box by
  dragging
  and dropping.
  8) Select the newly added Textbox and click on the icon that
  says
  'Control Properties'
  9) A Textbox Properties dialog box will populate
  10) Type in Long Description in the Label field
  11) In the Attribute field, click on the Select Value icon, and
  select
  'DESCRIPTION_LONGDESCRIPTION'  for the INCIDENT object .
  11a) In the Input Mode box, type QUERY.
  12) Close the Textbox Properties dialog
  13) Save the changes
  14) Logout of MXES and then log back in
  15) Go To - Incidents Application
  16) Click on the Advanced Search icon
  17) Enter partial string value and then click on the Find
  button - I get the same error message as the client :
  
      'Database error number 170 has occurred.
      [LWTMAXI01]Line 1: Incorrect syntax near ')'
  
  
  PLEASE NOTE THE CLIENT IS ON MAXIMO 6.2.2 NOT 6.2.1 AND
  THIS PROBLEM IS REPRODUCABLE IN MAXIMO 6.2.2
  REQUESTING HOTFIX AGAINST MAXIMO 6.2.2

Problem conclusion

• Fixed in set Qbe logic when the field is long description.
