IZ23388: TEC WAS CONSOLE DOESN'T UPDATE DISPLAY

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Customer has various WAS consoles up displaying events after
  some time (sometimes a month, sometimes days) they notice that
  some of the consoles have not updated the events, while some
  have. This occurs randomly across various WAS/TEC consoles.
  

Local fix

• recycle WAS.

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply maintenance vehicle listed below
  **************************************************************
  If the web version of the TEC event console caches event data
  for two or more distinct queries during the same millisecond,
  all but one of the event viewers responsible for these queries
  stop updating with new data. Stale data is displayed thereafter
  in the affected event viewers until WebSphere is restarted.
  

Problem conclusion

• The design of the cache included a data structure that is
  not capable of handling the situation described above. This
  resulted in corruption of the cache when the data structure
  was updated more than once during the same millisecond. The
  code has been updated to use a different data structure, so
  that the cache will no longer be corrupted.
