JR42524: JOB FAILED WITH TYPE CONVERSION ERROR AFTER UPGRADED TO 8102

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Job failed with error 'When binding input interface field
  "field_name" to field "field_name": No default conversion from
  source type "string" to result type "date".' after upgraded to
  8102 from 8101.
  

Local fix

• Use "StringToData" function or "If 1=1 then column_name" else
  column_name" to avoid problematic colunm propagate down
  directly.
  

Problem summary

• Failures of type "No default conversion from source type
  "string" to result type "date"" are reported for key columns
  from inserted SortedMergeCollector when its downstream operator
  is set to sequential mode execution and uses view adapters that
  has conversions.

Problem conclusion

• This error is due to using input schema or the orignial schema
  for building input interface for processing. The problem is
  fixed by using view adapted schema as that would have the
  conversions details.
  

Temporary fix

• Set downstream execution mode to Parallel mode
