JR40272: INFORMATION SERVER 8.5 - BLUE PRINT DIRECTOR 8.5 FP1 INSTALL CORRUPTS THE VERSION.XML FILE.

IBM InfoSphere Information Server, Version 8.5 Fix Pack 2

APAR status

• Closed as fixed if next.

Error description

• Blue print Director 8.5 FP1 install removes the
  currentVersion="8.5.0.0" from the Version.xml. And as a
  result when installing any subsequent patches the Installer
  gives below error
  
  CDIIN2193E:Unable to build installation registry.
  INSTALLROOT/Version.xml or INSTALLROOT/_uninstall might be
  corrupted
  

Local fix

• Just add the tag currentVersion="8.5.0.0" in the tag Install
  Type tag example below

Problem summary

• This error was caused by running the updateInstaller on the
  .ispkg file included in this fixpack. If the user extracts the
  files from the .ispkg file and runs the installer from there, it
  will work fine.  It is only when the user tries to run the
  updateInstaller that there is a problem.
  
  In 8.5 FP2, the release is no longer wrapped in an .ispkg file
  so this will not happen moving forward.
