Error description

  • Teradata Multiload stage fails to load when the input file
    is larger than 2 GB.
If the load file is greater than 2GB, then a broken pipe error
occurs. If the load file is less than 2GB in size, the mload
runs fine. If the np_ directive is removed from the control
file, then the mload works fine as well.
Even though the Named Pipe checkbox is not selected BUT the
control file still contains the AXSMOD np_axsmod.so
    directive.

The TD stage has two check boxes as follows:

    1) Use Named Pipe
    2) Use Large File AXSMOD (Unix Only).

In my customer's test job, the Named Pipe checkbox is not
selected BUT the control file still contains the AXSMOD
    np_axsmod.so directive

Also, the 'Large File AXSMOD' directive has not been required
since around 2003 with Teradata, so there should be no need for
    this checkbox any more

Local fix

  • Manually edit the control file

Problem summary

  • The AXSMOD directive np_axsmod shows in the control
file when the Named Pipe check box is not selected.

Problem conclusion

  • An environment variable was created to remove the AXSMOD
    directive from the control file.

To remove the AXSMOD np_axsmod.so directive:
    Set checkpoint option to 0.
    Set the DS_TDM_NO_NPAXSMOD environment variable.

Temporary fix
