Why are the total degrees of freedom in my ANOVA table equal to N?

Troubleshooting

Problem

I'm running an ANOVA in SPSS using GLM or UNIANOVA and in some ANOVA tables there is a line labeled Total that has N degrees of freedom associated with it. Why isn't this N-1?
