Troubleshooting
Problem
I wish to perform cluster analysis by a divisive (backward) hierarchical clustering method, where all cases begin in a single cluster which is split into successive clusters until each case forms its own cluster. All of the cluster analysis methods in SPSS seem to be agglomerative, where cases start in individual clusters which are successively merged until all cases belong to a single cluster. Is there any way to perform divisive hierarchical clustering in SPSS?
