Error description

  • Steps to reproduce:
    1. Add an alternate language and name to the certifier ID
    (cert.id) using
    [Tools]-[Certification]-[Certify] in [Configuration] tab of
    Domino
    Administrator.
    2. Register a user with [Alternate name] in [Other] tab of
    [Register Person]
    dialog box.
    3. Edit the Location document on Notes client to set [Alternate
    names] in
[Default display name] field in [Basic] tab.
    4. Open the user's mail database with the user's ID and verify
    that the
Alternate name is displayed in [Basic] tab of Mail
    Preferences.
    5. Go back to Domino Administrator, click [People & Groups] tab,
    select the
user's Person document in [People] View and click
    [Tools]-[People]-[Rename].
    6. Click [Change Common Name] button in [Rename Selected Notes
    People] dialog
    box.
    7. Choose the Server and Certifier ID then click [OK].
    8. Change [Last name] and [Common name] under the [New Alternate
    name
    Information] label.
    9. Execute "tell adminp process all" on Domino Console and
    verify that the
Administration Request "Initiate Rename in Domino Directory" is
    processed in
    admin4.nsf.
    10. Open the user's mail database with the user's ID again. The
    changes of the
Person Document is reflected to user's ID.
    11. Execute "tell adminp process all" on Domino Console twice
    and verify that
the Administration Request "Rename Person in Calendar Entries
    and Profiles in
Mail File" is processed in admin4.nsf.
    12. Open the user's mail database with the user's ID again and
    check the
    [Basic] tab of Mail Preferences.

    Problem:
The Last name of the primary name is changed but the Alternate
    name is not
changed even if the Administration Request "Rename Person in
    Calendar Entries
and Profiles in Mail File" has been processed.

The old Alternate name is set in "$altPrincipal" field when the
    user create a
new mail if the user is not click [OK] button of the Mail
    Preferences. The
value of "$altPrincipal" field is used as destination address
    when the other
user who is received mail tries to reply it, so (s)he cannot
    send the reply.

Local fix

  • Click [OK] of Mail Preferences after the step 12.
