LO48071: APPLYING MANAGED SETTINGS VIA THE PLUGIN_CUSTOMIZATION.INI DOES NOT WORK IN 8.5.1

APAR status

  • Closed as user error.

Error description

  • Managed settings cannot be pre-configured using the
plugin_customization.ini
file in 8.5.1.

Steps to reproduce:

Extract the 8.5.1 installation package and access the
plugin_customization.ini
file.
Add the following parameters to the file (as an example to
test):

com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.chatwindow/useTabs=true
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.chatwindow/horizontalTabs=false
com.ibm.rcp.ui.browser.launcher/USE_EMBEDDED_BROWSER=false
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.community/SametimeServer=messagin
g.ibm.com

Launch setup.exe and install 8.5.1.
RESULT: None of the settings mentioned above will be applied.

A similar issue was reported in SPR RGAU7YCHJH  to report the
same problem when
attempting to configure the "On restart, reopen any tabs that
were open when I
closed the client" feature.  Setting this value via the
plugin_customization.ini file
also did not work in 8.5.1, but worked previously in 8.5.

Local fix

  • As a workaround, the Embedded Browser and Sametime server fields
can be set via
a Desktop Settings Policy
