Error description
Problem description Lotus Notes 8.5.1 Standard - seamless mail upgrade (SMU) fails if mail file "Set Bookmark as Home Page" Set mail file as Home Page and assign policy to have SMU. User is prompted (even if not selected in the policy) and upgrade fails. Test Environment: Windows XP Domino server: V851 Notes client: 8.5.1 Reproduced Steps: On one machine with Administrator client: 1) Register a user, Test User2, the mail template is mail7.ntf 2) Create a policy and a Desktop setting, and then set the setting document to specify the users Prompt user before upgrading mail file: No Old design template name for your mail files: * If Running This Version Of Notes: * Use This Mail Template: mail85.ntf Upgrade the design of custom folders: Yes Prompt before upgrading folder design: Yes Notify these administrators of mail upgrade status: (null) 1) Create a policy and select the above desktop setting 2) Assign the policy to this user. On another machine: 1) Clean install a single-user Notes client 2) Launch the client as the user to be upgraded, The mail file is upgraded OK from mail7.nft to mail85.ntf. This procedure works as long as the workspace is configured as homepage But if you use a welcome page including mail, then the mail upgrade fails. (please see below the scenario) 1. Set up the home page to include the mail file 2. Delete the calendar profile using the script below Sub Click(Source As Button) Dim session As New NotesSession Dim db As notesDatabase Dim profile as NotesDocument Set db=session.CurrentDatabase Set profile=db.GetProfileDocument("CalendarProfile") Call Profile.Remove(True) End Sub 3. In the notes.ini delete the line: MailUpgradeCheckTime and edit the line: MailSetup=1 (you may also add the line: Names=names.nsf ) 4. Click to open the mail file You get the following messages and the mail file is not upgraded: This message should not be displayed as the Desktop policy has "Prompt user before upgrading mail file: No" Then you get the rest of the messages: And the mail file is not upgraded. If you add below debug parameters to the notes.ini of the Client Debug_ThreadID=1 Console_Log_Enabled=1 debug_smu=1 5/01/2010 11:23:10.17 [0868:0002-0470] SMU> Skipping SMU - 'bookmark.nsf' not a mail file 05/01/2010 11:23:27.73 [0868:0002-0470] SMU> Found client version mapping match: 'Release 8.5.1' to current build: 'Release 8.5.1' 05/01/2010 11:23:29.18 [0868:0002-0470] SMU> Skipping SMU - user cancelled close of all windows
