Error description

  • At least three internal IBM deployments and 1 customer have
    asked for the
ability to filter the list of rooms/resources that users can see
    such that
rooms they definitely do not have access to. That way users do
    not see items
they have no ability to reserve.
It means only those who are part of Mail Server Developers will
    be able to reserve
the room. All others can still see it in the C&S form for
    finding/picking
rooms but unless they are members of that group (in this case)
    they will not be
able to reserve the room even if it is available. They should
    not even be
given the choice of the room since it will never be accepted.
    This can lead to
user frustration and annoyance which in turn can lead to users
    misperceiving
that the "system is broken" which is never good.

If the client were to get and check the owner restrictions
    before presenting
the list to users in any of the room selections/pickers then
    that would greatly
help. It would not prohibit users from manually entering room
    names but that
also requires user knowledge of the rooms existence (and the
    RnRMgr will still
reject the request even if they try to "end run" the template).

Local fix

  • One possible workaround: Modify the NAB to make the owner
    restriction lists
into a Readers list on the R&R doc. This could cause some
    issues in general
where Admins can no longer see the entries in their NAB even
    when they are not
    doing C&S.
