Error description
After migration to Notes V6.5.4 Personal address books still have older ODS-versions (in some cases ODS17 or ODS20). Customer Would like to know how to upgrade the ODS on the Local database, preferable without the users intervention. Applying the Workaround suggested in the following Technotes 1181946, the problem is fixed but the Workaround is not practical for the Customer. For the Customer Using ncompact via command line or batch leads to (at least) 2 problems: 1) the client must be closed 2) I have to know the passwords of about 2000 users And because that feature does not exist in Notes , The Customer would like to see if the following could be consider for later release. *Having a notes.ini parameters that could perform "scheduled" compacts/cleanups for locked databases at startup or shutdown of the client to run the compact task on a Local database to update the database ODS.
Local fix
When a Notes Client is upgraded, the Compact task is not ran against the local databases. Therefore, any database that was created locally prior to the upgrade will remain at that ODS. From the Windows command prompt, path out the program directory and then issue ncompact or ncompact.exe followed by the name of the database or run it against the entire data directory. After hitting [Enter], user will be prompted for the password to the USER.ID file located in the specified path as seen below: Once compact has completed, go back to the database properties and view the "Information" tab and the ODS will be updated to 43.
