Problem
Here's what I have coded in the configuration file: LogLevel 7 # Error, Warning, Event But I am finding that the syslogd log is accumulating records for debug-level messages as well, at CSSMTP startup time.
Cause
When CSSMTP first starts up, the LogLevel is set, regardless of the LogLevel specified on your configuration file, to log all of the following:
- Error-level messages
- Warning-level messages
- Event-level messages
- Information-level messages
- Debug-level messages
This is to aid in first failure data capture in the event of a problem.
Resolving The Problem
When CSSMTP initialization is complete, the LogLevel is then modified to what was specified in the configuration file, or to the default LogLevel value of 7 if LogLevel was not specified.
