Error description

  • The archive profile document on a mail database is not created
    during user
registration. Applying an archiving policy to the user and
    pushing down to the
user workstation will not create the archive profile document.
    This will
results in the archive settings from the policy to never be
    applied to the mail
user database. The only time the archive profile document is
    created is when a
user manually clicks on Action-Archive-Settings or when from the
    database
properties the archive settings button is pressed. When the
    user checks
his/hers archive settings the archive profile document is
    created and the
    policy archive settings are applied.

    To reproduce this:

Register a brand new user on a server. With notes peek open the
    mail database
of the user registered. The archive profile document is
    missing.
Apply an explicit or organizational archive policy to the user.

Have the user connect to the server and make sure that DCC runs
    on the client
and that the policy is pushed down to the user.
Check the $policy on the personal address book to make sure the
    policy is in
    place.
Open notes peek again and check the user mail database. The
    archive profile
    document has not been created.
From the server console run "Load compact -A mail/usermail.nsf".

The following error message is returned.
    "02/20/2008 12:21:38 PM Archiving documents from mail\usermail
    (User)
02/20/2008 12:21:38 PM Server-based archiving not enabled on
    database
    mail\usermail"

Running maintenance on the user database will not create the
    archive profile
    document.

Local fix

  • Manually having the user from its workstation click on
Actions-Archive-Settings. This will create the archive profile
    and if a policy
is in place the policy settings are added to the archive profile
    document.

    Other possible workaround:

Create an email with a button. Use the following lotus script

    Dim uidb As notesuidatabase
    Dim ws As New notesuiworkspace
    Set uidb = ws.currentdatabase
    Call uidb.EditArchiveSettings()
