LO30488: SESSION TIMEOUT CAUSES EXCEPTIONS WITH AJAX

Error description

• ISSUE
  When utilizing AJAX in a portlet that is dependent on a
  Session that will time out, any actions in the AJAX region will
  cause a JavaScript error to occur.
  
  This exception is viewable in the log files and is caused by the
  way the timeout exception is handled in the AJAX servlet
  .
  SYMPTOMS
    Exception is displayed on the screen and in the logs
  
    0000006c ServletWrappe E   SRVE0068E: Could not invoke the
  service() method on servlet AjaxServlet. Exception thrown :
  java.lang.SecurityException: Illegal access: request made for
  URI"..." outside an existing session.

  ENVIRONMENT
  Server: Portal 6
  Client: WPF 6.0.2
  .
  RECREATION:
  
  1. run the Client Events and Partial-page Refresh sample
  2. let the session time out
  3. click on any of the actions that use partial page refresh
  NOTE the JavaScript error displays in the browser.

Local fix

• 1. have an html timed event that updates the page every 15 mins
  or so (keepalive)
  
  2. a timed event that after 30 mins either hits their main
  portal page (hardcoded url) which will force them to log in, or
  does some javascript popup that says "session invalidated please
  login"
