Troubleshooting
Problem
This technote discusses an issue that happens with the new release of the Flexnet license key server v8.1.1. When you import a temporary key the import happens successfully but the product will not start, and the license manager will generate an error message ,stating that the license feature is not supported by the license server.
Symptom
Example of the error message:
RequisitePro will not start, because it was unable to obtain a license. You may need to launch the Rational License Key Administrator to establish one.
The error reported by the FLEXlm license manager is:
The FEATURE name RequisitePro with version 4.0 cannot be found
License server system does not support this feature.
Feature: RequisitePro
License path: C:\Program Files\IBM\RationalRLKS\common\

Lmgrd log reports the license as invalid.
Example log:

vendor_info="0|IBM Rational RequisitePro Floating License \

Cause
This issue can happen because the server name and the ibmratl vendor daemon line is missing in the rational_server_temp.dat file in the install directory.
Resolving The Problem
To resolve this problem and have the temporary licenses be served, you will have to edit the rational_server_temp.dat file which is located in the install directory by default: C:\Program Files\IBM\RationalRLKS\common\ (or C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\RationalRLKS\common on a 64 bit system).
Instructions:
- Go to the common directory and locate the rational_server_temp.dat file.
- Open this file in a text editor
- Make sure that the SERVER line mentions the actual host name. If it does not, then correct it. Also verify that the line VENDOR ibmratl is present. If not, add it. Any other VENDOR line is not needed and should be removed to avoid the license manager from crashing.
[.......end of the package lines...]

VENDOR ibmratl
INCREMENT RequisitePro rational 4.00000 25-feb-2021 1 1234567C890 \
etc.
etc.
- Save file and close
- Stop/start server and Reread license file. You can do so on the license server in LMTOOLS > Start/Stop/Reread.
If you continue to experience problems, then open a support case in the IBM Cognitive Support Portal to receive assistance from the IBM Common Licensing Support team.
