APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When O5 is used to compile source files, segmentation fault
error may occur during code execution.

Local fix

  • Use O3 instead

Problem summary

  • Users will be affected when compiling and linking C++ programs
which contains static constuctors/destructors with data
initializations at optimization levels -O4 or higher.

The compiler generates redundant DATA initialization codes when
processing the implicit reference table for such
    constructors/destructors. This apparently confused
the code generator and bad object code was generated.

As a result, semgentation fault occurs at runtime.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix will be developed and applied to a future PTF.

Temporary fix
