Rational DOORS Web Access: Troubleshooting 'System memory is exhausted ...' message

Troubleshooting

Problem

You may successfully install and configure IBM Rational DOORS Web Access (DWA) 1.4, yet shortly after DWA starts, the DWA Interoperation Server will crash with an error reflecting that it ran out of memory. This problem may be caused by a known issue involving DOORS modules with customized indents (APAR PM27346), which is fixed as of DWA 1.4.0.1. You can also work around this issue by removing the customized indents or switching to DWA 1.3.

Symptom

You get this error in the IBM Rational DOORS Web Access (DWA) Interoperation Server window after DWA has finished starting:

System memory is exhausted
Please shut down all other applications before pressing OK. (Not enough space) memory exhausted
