LO86554: SMTP BUT NOT NRPC USED FOR SAME DOMAIN EMAIL TRANSFER.

APAR status

• Closed as fixed if next.

Error description

• Steps to reproduce:
  1. Install two testing servers in same Domino Domain with
  version 8.5.3. For
  example: server1/org, server2/org
  
  2. Create 2 connection documents from Server1 to server2. The
  connection type
  is "Local Area Network". One document has "Destination Domain"
  set to "org",
  another document has it set to "aa.ibm.com".
  
  3. Create a configuration document for server1, in Router/SMTP
  -> Basics, set
  "SMTP used when sending messages outside of the local internet
  domain" to
  enabled,
  set "Relay host for messages leaving the local internet domain"
  field to use a
  Relay Host.
  
  4. Restart both domino servers.
  
  5. Send a message from server1 to test@aa.ibm.com, this
  message will wait
  in server1 mail.box. Using "tell router show" command, we can
  find this message
  was treated as SMTP message and the state is wait. This message
  will always
  waiting there until timeout and be returned to the sender.
  
  
  6. Send the second mail from server1 to test@aa.ibm.com. The
  message can be routed to
  server2 successfully via NRPC.
  
  Please note:
  1.This problem will happen each time server or router restarted.
  
  2.It only happens on the first message. But not for afterwards
  message.
  3.Remove "relay host" setting in step 3, the prolem will gone.
  4.The problem was found when customer upgraded Domino to
  853FP6(I also reprodued on
  853). It works fine on R6 and R7.
  

Local fix

• Use Foreign SMTP domain document and SMTP connection document
