Repairs message states Errors were detected after exporting to Excel from ClearQuest Web

Problem

This technote identifies an issue that can occur in IBM Rational ClearQuest Web. An "Errors were detected" message occurs when exporting to a Microsoft Excel file.

Symptom

When exporting to an Excel spreadsheet, this error occurs:
Excel found unreadable content in '<file name>.xls'. Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes.


If you click yes, Excel opens. However, most of the time, the file is blank. This error also occurs:

Repairs to 'QueryResult 1 .xls'

Errors were detected in 'QueryResult 1 .xls' but Microsoft Excel was able to open the file by making the repairs listed below. Save the file to make these repairs permanent.


Damage to the file was so extensive that repairs were not possible.  Excel attempted to recover your formulas and values, but some data may have been lost or corrupted.



You may also receive this error first after selecting "Open":

Excel cannot complete this task with available resources. Choose less data or close other applications.
