APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • An embedded view with an onSelect event does not trigger the
onSelect event, if
the view is from a different database.

Views embedded locally (from the same database) can fire
onSelect events
normally.

To reproduce, simply:
1. Create a view with an onSelect event in one database.  For
testing purposes,
we had the onSelect formula create a simple messagebox, as this
is a clear
indicator of success.
2. In a second database, create a form and add an embedded view.
 Select the
view created in step 1.
3. Open the database and form in the Notes Client, and select
the embedded view.
The messagebox will not appear.

If you follow these steps but use a view from the same database,
the messagebox
WILL appear, so this is specifically a problem with remote
views.

Local fix

  • Only embed local views if possible.

  • Fix is added to enable Remote Embedded views support for
 "OnSelect" event.Fix is provided by INI parameter.    Set
 NOTES.INI parameter on Notes Client side as  :
 "EnableRemoteEmbeddedViewsOnSelectEvent=1" to work the fix.
