LO76154: OUT OF OFFICE REPLY FAILS WITH BOUNCE ADDRESS TAG VALIDATION (BATV) MESSAGES

APAR status

• Closed as user error.

Error description

• Customer has a mail gateway (Mail Marshal) which uses BATV to
  code messages with special signature
  
  This comes into Notes/Domino fine, but the SMTPOriginator field
  is converted as follows - mailbox@example.com turns into
  prvs=tag-value=mailbox@example.com
  
  When the out of office agent runs, the first field it checks
  (if "Do not automatically reply to mail from internet
  addresses" setting in the out of office is NOT enabled), is the
  SMTPOriginator field, thus it tries to reply to anemail
  address that is not valid, thus a bounce back email to sent to
  the user who is out of the office and the reply is never sent.
  
  The out of office function where the SMPTOriginator field is
  pulled is called GetAddressFromMessage. The order of fields
  that it checks is SMTPOriginator, Principal, then From.
