LO74870: LOTUS NOTES 9.0 FAILS TO LAUNCH WHILE RECREATING \DATA DIRECTORY

APAR status

• Closed as returned (APAR cannot be resolved without additional info from IBM or customer.)

Error description

• Standard Lotus Notes 9.0 Multi-user does not start if Data
  directory is removed for Roaming User
  
  Steps to reproduce:
  
  Install MU install as OS Admin Account (i.e. UserA)
  Log out, and login as a different OS admin (i.e. UserB)
  Launch and configure Lotus notes as a Roaming User
  Shutdown Lotus Notes once configuration is complete
  Go to UserB's OS profile, and rename the Data directory (i.e.
  Data_old)
  Launch Notes.
  
  RESULT: Notes2.exe will startup during the initial process of
  creating the \workspace, but rcplauncher.exe never starts, and
  does not spawn a second notes2.exe process to launch Notes.
  Splash screen only shows
  
  Used the following debug for issue:
  
  1. Add the following parameters to the local notes.ini file
  within the <OS profile>\Local\AppData\Lotus\Notes\Data:
  
  DEBUGINGWCTENABLED=16386
  console_log_enabled=1
  
  This debug will show the communication between the Core (or
  Basic) and Eclipse framework
  
  2. Open the RCPINSTALL.PROPERTIES file, which is located in the
  .data\workspace\.config folder.
  3. Search for the .LEVEL parameter (towards the end of the
  file).
  4. Change this value from .LEVEL=WARNING to .LEVEL=FINEST
  5. Launch Lotus Notes from the command line using the following
  command:
  
  cd C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Lotus\Notes
  notes -RPARAMS -console
  

Local fix

• Reinstall Lotus Notes resolves the issue
