Error description

  • Steps to reproduce:

    1. Prepare Domino 8.5.2 and 8.0.2 servers in a same domain.

    They are not clustered.

    2. Setup mail journal as:

    2-1) Create a documnet for mail-in database

on Administrator client > People & Group Tab > Domino
    Directories
    > DOMAIN's Directory > Mail-In Databases and Resources:

Basics Tab > Basics > Mail-in name: mailjrn
    Basics Tab > Location > Domain: <Domain>
Basics Tab > Location > Server: <Name of Domino 8.5.2>
Basics Tab > Location > File name: mailjrn.nsf

2-2) Setup Configuration Settings of Domino 8.5.2 as:

    Router/SMTP > Advanced > Journaling > Basics > Journaling:
    Enabled
    Router/SMTP > Advanced > Journaling > Basics > Method: Copy to
    local database
    Router/SMTP > Advanced > Journaling > Database management >
    Method: Periodic Rollover
    Router/SMTP > Advanced > Journaling > Database management >
    Periodicity: 1 days

2-3 ) Create a mail rule of Configuration Setting of Domino
    8.5.2 as:

    Router/SMTP > Restrictions and Controls > Rules:
When All Documents, Journal this Message

    3. Add the parameter below to Domino 8.5.2's notes.ini:

    create_r85_databases=1

    4. Restart Domino server, send an e-mail to self,
and check if the mail is journalized to mailjrn.nsf.

    5. Convert the mailjrn.nsf to ODS 51 by Domino console commands:

    tell router q
    compact mailjrn.nsf -C
    l router

    6. Shutdown Domino 8.5.2 and 8.0.2 servers,
    set system date tomorrow,
    and start the Domino servers.

    7. Check if mailjrn.nsf is rollover, and if MJmmddyyyy.nsf is
    creatred.

    8. Set ACL of MJmmddyyyy.nsf as LocalDomainServers are
    Administrator.

    9. Move the MJmmddyyyy.nsf to Domino 8.0.2 on Administrator
    client by:

    Files Tab > <Select MJmmddyyyy.nsf> > right-click > Move,

and select the target Domino 8.0.2 server.

    10. Proceed with Administator requests:

Check Access for Non-cluster Move Replica
    Non Cluster Move Replica

    11. Only small db less than 1MB is replicated Domino 8.0.2.
    (BUG)

If the replication is from Domino 8.5.2 to Domino 8.5.2,
then the problem does not occur.

Comments

  • This APAR is associated with SPR# TAIA8S4V8D.
Does this happen for all databases? OR is it specific to the
mail journal? Also is it just the stub is created on the 802
server and a subsequent replication will bring over the docs?
When the 2 servers are both 8.52 then the admin client will
use 'fast replication' (copy db) when they are different major
versions is will use the slower new replica, replicate notes
     version.
