Error description

  • The following document in the Lotus Notes and Domino Application
    Development wiki confirms support in 8.5.2 for the
    window.close() JavaScript function:
    http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/ddwiki.nsf/dx/Whats_New_in_852_for_X
    Pages?OpenDocument#window.close%28%29+support

    "
    window.close() support
    Adds the ability to Close a Window from a Client Side or Server
    Side JavaScript event.
    "

    Tests show that this works correctly from a Browser however from
    the Notes client window.close() has no effect.

    To reproduce:
    a) Create a new blank XPage application.
    b) Create a new XPage and add a button to this page.
    c) In the onclick event for the button add the code:
    window.close();
    d) Open the XPage in a Web browser and click the button created
    in (b).

    The message "The webpage you are viewing is trying to close the
    window" is raised and the window is closed.

    e) Open the XPage in the Notes client and click the buttin
    created in (b).
    This has no effect.
