OW35527: CONTACTED FAILS 08950E1D OR CONNECTION NETWORK DYNAMIC PU W/O CPCP CAP CONNECTS WITH PREDEFINED PU

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• User has connection network and also predefined connections
  between a NN and EN, and has VERALSID coded on predefined
  connection.  An LU-LU session on the EN has an RSCV through
  the VN, so a dynamic connection network PU is defined and a
  dial out is started to the NN.  Whe the NN received the REQCONT
  it matches the predefined PU and when CONTACTED is received the
  connection is failed with sense code 08950E1D.  Another symptom
  if VERALSID is not coded is a predefined CPCP capable PU is
  connected to a non CPCP capable dynamic connection network PU.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Multiple connection network connections *
  *                      and CP-CP capable connections are       *
  *                      defined between two adjacent nodes.     *
  *                      The CP-CP capable connections have      *
  *                      VERALSID=YES.  Occasionally after an    *
  *                      inop on the CP-CP capable connection,   *
  *                      they see CONTACTED fail with 08950E1D.  *
  *                      Without VERALSID=YES coded they see     *
  *                      the CP-CP capable connection come up    *
  *                      with CP-CP not supported.               *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  The CP-CP connection between the two control points is active.
  The system is very busy, with several sessions at the point
  where they are ready to connect through the connection network.
  At this point an INOP occurs for the CP-CP connection in this
  node.  At this same point in time the adjacent node has dialed
  out over the connection network to connect to this node.  When
  the REQCONT is received by this node it is matched to the CP-CP
  capable connection (which is now CONNECTABLE).  If VERALSID=YES
  then the dial out is failed by this node with 08950E1D when the
  CONTACTED is received.  If VERALSID is not coded (or is set to
  NO) then the connection comes up, but does not support CP-CP
  sessions (the XID from the adjacent node for the dynamic
  connection network dial out PU indicated CP-CP not supported).
  

Problem conclusion

• When VTAM is receiving a REQCONT for a connection over a
  connection network it should not allow that to find/match with
  a predefined PU.
