OW34384: FILE TRANSFER USING AFTP. RESULT IN WRONG RECORD LENGTH WHEN USING RECFM V

APAR status

Error description

• Transfer a binary PC file to a VBM dataset on the host, result
  in wrong record length, when using VTAM's Application suite
  program APPFTP, using command RECFM V.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: AFTP pads variable record format files  *
  *                      with binary zeros out to the logical    *
  *                      record length when transferred in       *
  *                      binary.                                 *

  AFTP was padding a binary recfm v file out to the lrecl with
  binary zeros.
  

Problem conclusion

• Module APPFXFRC has been changed to only pad RECFM F files with
  binary zeros. RECFM V file records will be individually written
  as is without padding.
