OW28144: ABEND0C4 ISTRCCRS SENSE 08550020 HPR RTP VTAM AS AN ICN

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• An abend0c4 occurred in module istrccrs +x'31C' after setting
  sense 08550020.  An rtp pipe setup was being attempted from a
  device running PCOM off a token ring off a channel attached ncp
  to VTAM acting as an icn.  VTAM had HPR=ANR coded.  The abend
  occurred trying to backout the rtp setup since VTAM did not
  support hpr.  The abend occurred because the ncb pointer was
  zeros.
  

Local fix

• Code hpr=rtp as a VTAM start option.

  The abend occurred because the NCB had been freed and it's
  pointer zeroed when the RTP component tried to send a reply
  to a ROUTE SETUP (RSU) request. The destination node of the
  route setup, which was this host, received an RSU hoping to
  set up an RTP tower. However, since HPR=ANR start option was
  specified, VTAM set sense code 08550020 indicating it has to
  'back out' because it does not have RTP tower capabilities.
  The NCB should have been saved in this situation, but was not.
  

Problem conclusion

• Module ISTRCCRE has been changed to save the configuration
  information when an HPR route setup is started, but must be
  'backed out' because there is no RTP support.
