Preventive Service Planning
Abstract
What are the network protocols used for Telelogic Synergy ( Client and Server), Telelogic Change and Telelogic License Server?
Content
Inter-process Communication between Synergy processes is basically as follows:
Server daemons (router, objreg, lmgr, esd)
/\ \
/ \ \
/ \ \
Client --> Engine --> Database
/\ \
/ \ \
/ \ \
Client --> Engine --> Database
Telelogic Synergy is a pure TCP/IP application.
A valid TCP/IP stack is a requirement for the operation of Telelogic Synergy.
Normally the communication between processes takes place on dynamically allocated ports.
The Synergy process requests the next available port from the Operating System and then use it to communicate with another Synergy process.
The port gets allocated for the duration of the Synergy session.
On UNIX servers it is possible to fix the port used by the various communication streams. However, Network Address Translation ( NAT ) is not supported.
What is the network protocol that is used in both Synergy and Change for:
- The Synergy client requesting licence information from the licence server
Network Protocol used by a Client requesting license information is TCP-IP.
- The Synergy client requesting data from the Synergy server
It is again TCP-IP.
This information can be seen in the services file.
Windows: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
UNIX: /etc/services
- Telelogic Change is also designed to use TCP-IP protocol.
