OW27285: PDUSDISC MONITOR IS NOT GENERATING MSGFNM200I WHEN VALUE GOES ABOVE THRESHOLD

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Three different counters are involved in monitor PDUSDISC
  (PDU's Discarded, Unrecognized PDU's and Misaddressed Frames
  Received).  However, NPM was only using the PDU's Discarded
  when testing to see if the monitor value has exceeded the HIGH
  threshold.  In this customer's case, PDUSDISC=(0,3) was coded.
  Panel FNM02RVM would show 15 under heading Total PDU's
  Discarded, but MSGFNM200I was never issued saying the resource
  had exceeded the threshold of 3. It is possible the value of 15
  was distributed on the three different counters as follows:
  PDUs Discarded               = 2
  Misaddressed frames received = 8
  Unrecognized PDUs            = 5
    So, MSGFNM200I would not be issued since PDU's Discarded is
  less than 3.
