Error description
The reference list fastpath command REFACTD can fail when the command includes a Personal Dataset List name & an entry number when that entry contains lowercase and REFMODE = LIST EXECUTE. For example: if I have a Personal Data Set List named MYLIST and the 1st entry contains lower case letters such as clist -or- CLISt -or- clist(A) -or- CLIST(a) -or- CLIST(a*) and from BROWSE VIEW EDIT OPT3.4 etc. I enter the valid command: REFACTD MYLIST 1 to load the dsname level field with the 1st entry in MYLIST and execute, I can get a variety of error msgs. such as: ISRM018 No matches The specified pattern produced no matching members. ISRE090 Invalid member name Member name a not valid for partitioned data sets. ISRCV007 Invalid DSN - qualifier Each qualifier must be 1-8 alphanumeric characters, the first alphabetic. ISRU171 No data set names found No data sets are cataloged that start with 'DON.CLISt'. This does not fail under V4R1 ================================================================ ADDITIONAL KEYWORDS MSGISRM018 MSGISRE090 MSGISRCV007 MSGISRU171 OPT1 OPT2 OPT34

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of ISPF REFLIST. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Various error messages are displayed * * when attempting to use a REFLIST item * * that contains lower case letters. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** If the REFMODE setting is set to EXECUTE and a data set whose name contains lower case letters is selected, various error messages are displayed.
Problem conclusion
V4.2 allows the use of workstation names in the REFLIST, necessitating the removal of the code that forced the names in the list to upper case. When a TSO data set is selected from the list, panel processing will normally force the name to upper case. In EXECUTE mode, however, this did not happen and ISPF would verify and allocate the lower case name, leading to the errors. The data set name will now be forced to upper case after it has been determined that the name is a TSO name and not a workstation name.
