Status 500 Internal error occurrs when trying to save or update record in ClearQuet Web

Problem

This technote identifies an issue that can occur in IBM Rational ClearQuest Web. When trying to save or update a record in the Web client, you receive the Internal Error "Status 500".

Symptom

The full error message is as follows:

Internal Error: Status 500. Condition null. message: internal error: internal error: DomParser.parse() caught SAXException. Attribute Specification ">" or "/>" must be specified after Element type "N1:<field name>".

Details:
CRVAP0226E (internal-error):  Internal error: Status 500; Condition null; Message: CRVSV0135E Internal error: CRVSV0135E Internal error: CRVSV0031E DomParser.parse() caught SAXException: An attribute, ">" or "/>" must be specified after Element Type "N1:<field name>"
