How to download and use the Microsoft Web Application Stress Test tool to generate data on your server?
Resolving The Problem
There are various tools available to generate data on your Server. The most common and easiest one available is the Microsoft Web Application Stress Tool.
To get the tool, go here and download it:
(Note: If you don't find the tool at any of the Microsoft web sites, then Microsoft has probably deprecated it. If you want to still use the non-supported/deprecated stress tool, its attached here in this technote. Simply unzip the file and run the setup.exe program. Before using the program, make sure you have a backup of your Windows system.) This tool is just being provided here as a means of convenience and we do not support it. For any questions related to the tool, please see the Microsoft websites.
Once you have installed the tool, simply run it by pressing the "Record" button the first time. This will then capture all http requests on your browser on any sample application. Finish recording and save the script. Then point the "server" field in the tool to your server fully qualified host name and press the Play button.
This will send automated requests to the server. You can run this in a loop by increasing the Test Run Time in the Settings menu of the script.
Send some data to your server and observe the data/load generated on your MS GUI or the TEPS console.
Note: While you can/may use this tool to generate data to your server, this is a Microsoft tool and will not work on all versions of Windows. Use at your own risk, as this tool is not supported by IBM. Its best to use it on a test system.
