Error description
Loop in module ISTSDCCC +x'62E' - running a chain of model RDTEs that is corrupted. This is a FIN reversal of APAR OA42880 - which describes a different symptom of the same problem.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of VTAM model applications. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Loop in ISTSDCCC or ISTSDCLO after * * failure of an activation of application * * major node containing a model * * definition. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The problem may be summarized as follows: 1. Some model application definitions have been previously activated. 2. The activation of a new application major node, with a model application definition, fails. This failure can be for any number of reasons (one reason seen was a resource definition collision with a just created CDRSC in a very narrow timing window, another reason seen was that a table definition in the major node had a problem). 3. During the cleanup of the application major node, the storage for the model application definition is freed, but the pointer to the storage is still on the chain of model application definitions. This is the error. 4. An application opens an ACB that uses one of the existing models to build a clone definition. This clone definition reuses the freed storage. At this point, the chain loops back on itself because the clone definition is on the chain and points back to its model definition which is earlier in the chain. 5. Activating another application major node with a model definition will cause ISTSDCCC to loop, hanging all VTAM synchronous PABs. Alternatively, opening another clone application may cause ISTSDCLO to loop, hanging all VTAM synchronous PABs.
Problem conclusion
ISTSDCCC is updated to remove a model APPL definition's storage from the CSG_MDLAP chain before freeing the storage.
