APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Customer is experiencing a storage growth in NetView in SP2 key8
and causes an out of storage condition. The problem appears to
be due to INITCOM failures for a CPC that is not yet operational
    but has been defined.

Local fix

  • stop the monitoring (INGRX830) of the Non-GDPS controlled BCPii
connections by purging the SYSxxxx timers that schedules
INGRX830. This will stop the suspected failing INITCOM calls and
    stop the storage growth.

    * not to be released. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Netview private allocated storage usage may be exceeded if
    session INITCOM fails.

Problem conclusion

  • Module INGCHW00 was changed. The storage anchor address of the
allocated storage, if available, is now copied into a local pgm
variable, independent from the INITCOM result. This variable is
then referenced at session termination time to free the session
    allocated memory.
Sub-module INGHW0VN was changed to indicate the current
    module version.
