Cannot start services [ERROR]

Troubleshooting


Problem

When starting the services from Cognos Configuration you get a generic message [ERROR]. At times the services do appear to start properly, if done outside of Cognos Configuration. However, the server cannot be added as a job server in Contributor Administration Console

Symptom

Error message from Cognos Configuration [ERROR]

Error from cbs_run.log (found in the logs directory under the install path)= ERROR t[203] PingChildProcess ping loop: process "catalina" is not active, so restarting it
