** Troubleshooting ** Controller appears to freeze when using 'Copy Reported Values between Periods'

Troubleshooting

Problem

User clicks 'Company - Copy - Reported Values Between Periods'. User chooses the parameters, and clicks 'Run'. The end user's session appears to hang ('Not Responding'). Depending on the scenario, one or more of the following *may* be observed (although not always): - the end user's session hangs for hours (infinite). However, the copy actually finished quickly (5 minutes) - the end user's session may respond (stop hanging) after some time (for example 10 minutes). - during the hanging, all other user's sessions *may* hang too (during the copy process), but are released.

Symptom

In general terms, the end user's session appears to hang ('Not Responding') after clicking the 'run' button:

However, there are other (more specific) symptoms that may be seen:

Example #1

In one real-life case (based on Controller 8.2) When doing a Copy Reported Values between periods, the user session hangs for hours (until the connection is timed out or the session is terminated at the server). However the copy works within minutes (About 5 minutes for about 800,000 records)
