    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Reactivation of EE XCA Major Node *
    * results in line activation *
    *                      failures with sense 081C0000 or         *
    *                      08090000                                *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The problem is summarized as follows:

    1) An EE XCA Major Node is being inactivated by the
       operator.
    2) The XCA Major node is systematically brought down
starting with DACTLINKs being sent to each line.
    3) Each line, AUNCB, must be cleaned up prior to
       the port, IPNCB, being freed.
    4) Each AUNCB must have its NCBUSECT decremented to
       zero prior to decrementing the
       IPNCB_ALLOC_LINE_CNT. This count controls
when the IPNCB is removed from the AUVT_IPNCB
queue and the IPNCB is freed.
    5) When the DACTLINK is queued to the PORT PAB,
the IPNCB_DEAD_PORT bit is set and the IUTSAMEH
       connection is cleaned up.
    6) Once the IPNCB_DEAD_PORT bit is set, no subsequent
EE line activations will succeed until the PORT
is freed and removed from the AUVT_IPNCB queue.
    7) If one of the NCBUSECT values associated with an
AUNCB is invalid, the IPNCB is not cleaned up and
is left on the AUVT IPNCB queue.
    8) In this case, all subsequent V NET,ACT commands of the
EE XCA major node will fail with SENSE 081C0000 or
       08090000 (ACTLINKs).
    9) All of these ACTLINKs fail due to the
       IPNCB_DEAD_PORT bit being on.

At this point, Enterprise Extender is not functional. VTAM
must be restarted to clear this situation. This APAR will
make changes to allow Enterprise Extender to restart when
    this type of error occurs.

Problem conclusion

  • For all releases the following changes have been made:

ISTAUVT - Has been changed to define AUVT_IPNCB_PDQ. This new
field will hold an IPNCB while it is deallocating.

ISTAUCPF - Has been changed to remove the IPNCB from the
AUVT_IPNCB_Q (AUVT_IPNCB) when the PORT FSM is set
to IPNCB_PORT_RESET. The IPNCB is then added to
the AUVT_IPNCB_PDQ, waiting for deactivation to
complete. At this point, the IUTSAMEH connection
is inactive and EE activation can be restored.

ISTAUCDL - Has been changed to removed the IPNCB from the
AUVT_IPNCB_PDQ when the port is being freed.

ISTPUCAD - Has been changed to remove segment DEALLAUC. This
segment was called as result of a CIDCTL ADD failure
for the network address for an EE LINE.

Module ISTAUCLA has been included for maintenance purposes.

For R10A, R120 and R140 the following changes have been made:

    ISTAUVT - Defined AUVT_MAJNODE
    ISTIPNCB - Deleted IPNCB_MAJNODE
ISTAUCAL - Changed to initialize the AUVT_MAJNODE.
ISTAUCUM - Changed all references from the IPNCB_MAJNODE to
               the AUVT_MAJNODE.
ISTAUCPF - Changed reference from the IPNCB_MAJNODE to
               the AUVT_MAJNODE.

For R150 and R160 the following changes have been made:

ISTAUCAL - Segment INITAUVT has been duplicated in segment
INITPORT. This allows the AUVT to be initialized
while under the protection of the AUVTLOK. This
is to synchronize initializing the AUVT with module
               ISTAUCPF (asynch).
