Error description

  • When attempting to change the IBM Rational ClearCase region on a
    remote client machine that has remote administration enabled
    through the ClearCase Administration Console, you may receive an
    error:
    
    An operation on host 'HostName' failed: error detected by
    ClearCase subsystem.
    

Local fix

  • Change the region on the client though the ClearCase Control
    Panel

  • The client region can be changed if the host supports remote
    administration and you are a member of the ClearCase
    administrators group.   Our testing found that systems
    configured to use different ClearCase administrators groups
    resulted in this issue.  Please see
