Troubleshooting


Problem

After installation of Java Runtime JRE1.3.1_01 Visualizer Web Client doesn't work anymore. When trying to load the applet you'll get an error: You have attempted to load IBM Cognos Visualizer 1.5 without having all of these necessary files: The Cognos Visualizer 1.5 Web Client application files. The Sun Java Plugin. Minimum version supported is version 1.2.2. The Sun JRE (Java Runtime Environment). Minimum version supported is version 1.2.2. Please refer to the Cognos Visualizer Web Edition Readme for specific versions of the Sun Java Plug-in and JRE tested and currently supported. It is recommended that you use the Sun JRE and the Sun Java Plugin in combination. Cognos cannot guarantee the performance of Visualizer when running under any other JRE's.

Resolving The Problem

Copy viz-cognos-cer1.dll from C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.2\bin to C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1_01\bin folder.
Copy cogviz.jar, gridj20.jar, in3d.jar and viz-cognos-cer1.jar files from C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.2\lib\ext to C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1_01\lib\ext folder.
